Alice Madness Returns Classic Figure Review

Description

Ok as no one has done this I am uploading a few pictures of each of the Alice Figures as I get them with a Review.

Zip File of 10 High Res images of the Figure for whatever use you may find.

If you use them do just give me a quick heads up!.

The Review.

Ok I have as I'm sure a lot of people need rather stocked about the Alice Figures coming out.

Packaging----8/10.

It presents a nice clear view of the model and the exact shape and design I have not seen before its something interesting, it also does a very good job of protecting the model.

The Downside is the cardboard additions to the packaging are themselves the most vulnerable part of the entire product.!!

Several on the shelf showed considerable crushing damage.

-----------------------------

Sculpt---8.5/10.

She is Alice and a damned crazy one at that, the details are all accurate and the hair/bow and hair are of a semi flexible rubber not solid plastic which means changing the pose is not a matter of fighting the dress constantly (shame the same could not be said for the hair which is still very tough to move, all you get is the slightest flex in the ends).

The Face is the biggest challenge and while it looks good I could not say it's an amazing likeness of the in game model, perhaps the artists worked from concept art/pre production shot or something, but she is still Alice.

Despite being the same base model as the Hysteria figure this gets the additional .5 as the necklace and bow are accurate to the version (where as the Hysteria is this model painted differently without the needed changes).

-----------------------------

Paint---6/10

This version scores lower than the Hysteria model because there are some rough edges, (if you check the included pictures you can see what I mean).

While this could not be apparent on the Hysteria figure it is sadly a little more obvious here with the stark contrast between the dress and apron.

The blood splatters are again very well done and I'm sure the same on each model for consistency.

There are even some tiny little details on her eyes (light shin off the pupil) it's a shame about the overall finish.
The only point I can fault is the skull on her back, it is a tad confusing as to if it was meant to be all read and someone missed some edges or was just a splattering of blood!, not a deal breaker though.

-----------------------------

Accessories---9/10

She comes with the Vorpal blade, Pepper Grinder and Hobby Horse.

The Blade - I cannot fault it is detailed enough for it's size and is reasonably covered in blood.

Pepper Grinder - Has some great detail and the handle even moves all the way round, the only slight niggle would be the edges on the eyes (paint).

Hobby Horse - Ok now this is a thorn in my side the horse itself is massive (to scale for Alice), and has some superb detail...however it is an all red in various shades model, I'm unsure what art work the model makers were given but as pointed out to me by :iconjagged66: that this version does not appear in the game at all, perhaps someone can confirm if it was a pre release image/paint scheme used int he game the moel makers were given to work from.

-----------------------------

Structure/Build Quality/Joints---4/10

This is there the model falls down, literally..!

While she has a lot of movable joints, I count about 18-20 they are not the strongest of joints, the arms specifically (she is a very dainty model which probably doesn't help) are very easy to move, so much so I had trouble posing her depending on the weapon I was trying to have her hold.

It might be down to some degree of luck though as compared to the Hysteria model of mine she does stand a lot better (the joints are slightly stiffer below the waist.
However arms/hands is still the same story (getting her to hold the Hobby Horse up is nearly impossible.

And on that note the right hand grip is sized for the Grinder/Horse, the Vorpal Blade is help into place by a small rubber band...

-----------------------------

Overview.
Packaging----8/10.
Sculpt---8.5/10.
Paint---6/10
Accessories---9/10
Structure/Build Quality/Joints---4/10

Overall Score---6/10

I would love to give this model a 7 because the sculpt is now accurate to the dress/game version but the rough edges on the paint job bring it down a little alongside the joint issues.
Still a purchase I do not regret and I will be getting the others in due course.
